I keep receiving so many questions and e-mails about candida and sugar addiction, so, in this post, I’m going to draw the link between these two issues.
The first thing you need to understand is that candida is a fungus, in other words, a living organism which feeds on simple sugars, and thinking that sugar addiction is causing your candida is a very reasonable thought and, in my opinion, is the most common reason why people are going to get this fungal infection in the first place.
Unfortunately, most people nowadays are addicted to sugar, they consume lots of soft drinks, pastry, processed foods, candy, alcohol and juices!
Here, we are not talking about table sugar, we are talking mostly about corn syrup, which is extremely sweet and very powerful when it comes to candida overgrowth because it contains huge amounts of glucose and fructose, which are simply going to feed your candida and cause quick increases in number and symptoms.
Yes, candida and sugar addiction are linked, and when you have one, you will also get the other, and here is why:
When you have candida, you will also start craving more sugar, it’s because these tiny organisms are consuming lots of energy, energy that’s supposed to feed your body and help you sustain good health and vitality all day long!
This is the reason why you feel tired when you have terrible candida outgrowth, you will also experience headaches and other symptoms such as fogginess.
However, when you go through such symptoms, the first thing you may think of is consuming something sweet, something sugary which is going to give you energy back!
And this is where people with candida are going to develop sugar addiction, soon, you will start consuming more sugar, and your body will have a difficult time coping with this issue.
Yes, candida is going to cause sugar addiction, and sugar addiction is also going to cause candida as simple carbohydrates are going to feed candida colonies already present in your intestines and colon!
The most important thing to do in my opinion is to cut down on sugar consumption as much as possible, in other words, avoid sweet things, most importantly, you need to consume fiber rich foods that are going to help your cardiovascular health and most importantly, your digestive health.
